I’m at home and just wasting time, so I check on your site…the same old stuff…which I LOVE! I look at door handles…abandoned for how many years? Who knows? Who touched those knobs? What were they thinking when they turned those knobs and when in to ask their boss a question??? I LOVE the thoughts that fill my brain when I look at your pictures. I live in Charlotte NC, so to look at the Heritage USA pictures, OM! I LOVE the brain rush I get…I went there with my parents when I was 15 years old….A LONG time ago. Please keep posting! I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! ~Tina

If it warms up and I can get out and get to a few places, I will try to remember to find some interesting looking doors and knobs… stuff that may be thought provoking. It is an interesting thought. Who was the last person to close that door and walk away?

I’m ashamed to admit the number of hours spent putting those pictures up at work back in the early days! That is what prompted illicitohio and forgottenoh (back on geocities in those days)… we were bored at work and decided to learn some very basic html by making websites. That must have been in 1998 or so? Maybe even earlier than that. Wow… time flys.

Thank you work working on the site. I love coming to IllicitOhio and browsing through the pictures and reading the accompanying text. I live in PA very close to the OH border so much of what you have here is very familiar or interesting to me.

  12. Rookie Says:

I’m not sure on Andy. I lost touch with him for a long time just because we both have been busy with life stuff. I’ll see if I can find out about forgottenoh

Love your site- Ohio is one of my favourite places, and forgotten and abandoned buildings are among my favourite things!
Thank you for sharing your photos (and for being so intrepid in collecting them!).

So glad to see an update to your site. I accidently came across your site last year when I was looking for old pictures of JCPennys at Northland Mall which lead me to your site. I was instantly addicted. Love the photos and the information you provide…very interesting! I believe my favorite in the old site has to be Mike Tyson’s house!

I’ve just discovered your blog on the internet and it’s right up my alley! I love the history and reasons behind why things were abandoned, and I certainly love the pictures.

Thanks, and please keep it up!

I can not count how many times I’ve used your website to find something for a group of us to do… thank you for the time you put into sharing your stories and pictures… I have so many of the same type of memories and photos and they will always be kind of magical to me. I know this post is from 2010 but I do hope you’ll come back to Ohio and give us more to find!
